From a garage in 1998 to today — the Compourri story.
Started in a garage. Still going strong.
Compourri was started in June 1998 in George van der Westhuizen's mom's garage. What began as a small operation repairing and selling computers quickly became a local business serving both home users and businesses in the Fochville community.
In 2007, Compourri opened its first shop on the corner of Kraalkop & President Street, giving the business a dedicated space from which to serve its customers.
That same year, Compourri also started LAN Arena, a gaming venue with space for up to 50 players, hosting LAN weekends once a month. It was a different era of gaming, but it became another part of Compourri's story.
Adapting through the years.
In 2016, the operation moved back home as a way of reducing costs and keeping the business sustainable. The shop may have disappeared, but Compourri didn't.
Now, in 2026, Compourri is still going strong — 28 years after it began — continuing to provide IT services, computer repairs, web design and technology solutions to the Fochville community.
From a garage in 1998 to today, the goal has remained the same: keep technology working and help people get the most out of it.
